World 11 ESOL is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. Safeguarding is central to all aspects of our provision.

We recognise that the learners we support, particularly Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC), may be vulnerable and require a high level of care, support, and protection.

Our Commitment

  • Ensuring all staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities

Safer Recruitment

We ensure that all staff and delivery partners:

  • Have enhanced DBS checks

  • Provide appropriate references

  • Are suitable to work with children

All staff are monitored and supported to maintain high standards of professional conduct.

Responding to Concerns

All staff are trained to:

  • Listen to and support young people

  • Record concerns accurately

  • Report concerns immediately to the DSL

Safeguarding concerns are managed in line with local safeguarding partnership procedures, and referrals are made to appropriate agencies where required.

Online Safety

Although our provision is primarily face-to-face, we recognise the risks associated with digital platforms and social media.

We ensure:

  • Awareness of online risks

  • Appropriate supervision where devices are used

  • Reporting of any online safeguarding concerns

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is:

  • Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) trained

  • Responsible for overseeing safeguarding and child protection

  • Leads on managing concerns and referrals

  • Works in partnership with local authorities and safeguarding agencies

Staff Training

All staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role, including:

  • Recognising signs of abuse and risk

  • Reporting concerns

  • Maintaining professional boundaries

Training is regularly updated to ensure compliance with current guidance.

Working in Partnership

We work closely with:

  • Local authorities

  • Social workers

  • Schools and colleges

  • Support staff and carers

This ensures a coordinated approach to safeguarding and support.
