Alternative Provision for Young People
ESOL & Football-Based Engagement

Supporting Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) and learners who need additional support to engage in education.

We deliver structured, small-group sessions combining English language learning with football-based activity to improve engagement, confidence, and progression.

Safeguarding-led provision with Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and structured small-group delivery.

Our Service Offer

We provide structured, small-group sessions designed to support engagement and progression.

Each session includes:

  • 2 hours ESOL education (speaking, listening, reading, writing)

  • Supervised transition time (break and changeover)

  • 1.5 hours structured football activity

Sessions are delivered over a 4-hour period, providing a balanced and engaging learning environment.

We operate during term time, aligning with mainstream education and supporting learners on part-time timetables.

Who We Support

Our provision is suitable for:

  • Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children

  • Learners with English as an Additional Language

  • Young people on reduced timetables

  • Learners struggling to engage in mainstream education

  • Those requiring a structured and supportive alternative provision

Our Approach

We deliver small group sessions (typically 6–10 learners, maximum 12) to ensure high levels of support and engagement.

Our staffing model includes:

  • CELTA-qualified ESOL tutor delivering structured English language provision

  • ESOL Learning support assistant

  • UEFA-qualified football coaches

This allows for a low staff-to-learner ratio, supporting effective supervision, safeguarding, and individual engagement.

Partnership Working

We work closely with:

  • Local authorities

  • Social workers

  • Schools and colleges

  • Other Alternative Provision providers

Our delivery is designed to complement existing education placements and support coordinated care and progression.

  • Improve English language skills and confidence

  • Develop communication and teamwork skills

  • Increase confidence and social interaction

  • Build positive peer relationships

We have supported learners to improve engagement, build positive relationships, and progress into further education and community activities.
